Year end

[edit]

Can you please point out where we are told to ignore cited sources, including the RLWC, the NRL, direct links stating that he signed from the Manly Sea Eagles, etc. Multiple sources discredit the played position, and that is all that I can think of for the removal of 2017, is that RLP is a solid base, until someone cites the truth. At that point RLP has done it's job, and the cited source detailed that a player may have been injured, on the outer, etc. RLP would not detail those, were a player to be injured for a whole season in the middle of spell at a club, nor a contractual dispute in the middle, nor a coach who doesn't rate you, or a player who makes a debut and then doesn't play the next, etc. It also wouldn't link Manly to the 2017 mid-season test that he played in, whereas multiple sources do. He was in the Manly Sea Eagles 2017 squad, confirmed by multiple sources. If you could please provide with the link to your position that would be very much appreciated.Fleets (talk) 09:26, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There is no dispute that he was at the club that year, just that he did not play first grade for them. There are players who may play reserve grade for many, many years. Only their time in firsts is recorded in the infobox. Exactly the same as the way the infobox starts from when they make their first grade debut, not the years that they may have been at the club before they debut.
If you wish to change the long-established protocol, probably best discussed at the project page.
Here's the link to where the infobox was first discussed: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template_talk:Infobox_rugby_league_biography/Infobox_upgrade_2008

Many thanks. Will review.Fleets (talk) 11:25, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Have had a scan through the link, could see a discussion about year start, but couldn't see anything relating to yearend. Could I please ask for the place where yearend was discussed, or a rule enshrined, a parallel discussion, an agreement, etc.Fleets (talk) 12:25, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"Club level section should be first grade only" Doctorhawkes (talk) 19:18, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That seems to be a decade old discussion of whether to include Queensland Cup and the old National League system within the infobox. The UK does not have a grade system, so is this a Aus only rule?Fleets (talk) 19:37, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It's a decade-old discussion because that's when the infobox was established. I sense this discussion is unlikely to reach any agreement. Let's discuss it over at the project page.Doctorhawkes (talk) 19:44, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, and I just couldn't see anything relating to a year end, positive, negative or any way in between. More than happy to bring it to a wider audience, and in the mean time have hidden the year end, as a happy medium that should not offend, I hope.Fleets (talk) 21:17, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
